History of Awards and Current and Past Recipients

Many of our awards have a long history and are named in honour of eminent early geoscientists.  Others recognise an outstanding contribution to the Geoscience Society of New Zealand or its predecessor organisations.

Where the establishment of an award has been made possible by the generosity of family members or friends to commemorate a loved one, we are extremely grateful for their thoughtfulness to assist future generations.

If you are interested in supporting an award please contact the President in complete confidence for an initial chat.

Information on how to nominate someone or apply for an award can be found on the Applications and Nomination page.
