    Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Ltd is a New Zealand Crown Research Institute that offers scientific and technical advice. Their website contains up-to-date information on all aspects of their geological research in New Zealand, including, earthquakes, minerals, oil/gas, geothermal energy, rock-dating, land stability, hazards, and the geological history of New Zealand.  Go here or here for resources.

    The Geological Society of New Zealand promotes the advancement of geology in N.Z. The site contains lists of recent publications in N.Z. geology, Society news, membership details, and links to regional branches.

Volcanoes and Volcanic processes 

    The Auckland Regional Council (ARC) has information about the Auckland volcanic field and the processes involved in its formation.

    The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has a comprehensive site about volcanoes and related features such as lava flows, mud flows, landslides, and volcanic rock types. Their photo-glossary contains beautiful photographs of these features and more!

    Volcano World is a useful and interesting site provided by the University of North Dakota. It contains a variety of images, videos, and information about volcanoes around the world. Check out their teacher’s guide to Hawaiian volcanoes.

    Planetscapes offers a fantastic range of images and information about the solar system, and includes a sizeable section on terrestrial features, including volcanoes.
