The Historical Studies Group aims to document the history of earth science in New Zealand. The main activity is the production of a newsletter, generally twice a year. The Editor is always willing to receive material to consider for publication in the newsletter. The group receives a grant from the Geological Society and members are levied an annual subscription of $15 per year.

Ursula Cochran, the Geological Society of New Zealand's archivist, maintains the records of the society, now going back over 40 years. Ursula (u.cochran_at_gns.cri.nz) would be pleased to hear from members who may be disposing of material related to the Society, or who have queries about the history of the Society.
