NEWSLETTER 180, JULY 2009

Bernhard Spörli gave an inspiring talk on the origins and deformation of the greywackes of the region at our June meeting. 22 members turned up for our June field trip where Bruce Hayward took us inside Hampton Park volcano and for a tour around what is left of its three badly damaged companions - Otara Hill, Green Mt and Styaks Swamp.
The last few of Geoff Jenkins' second-hand NZ geology books will be quick-fire auctioned at the July Geoclub meeting - bring your wallets or chequebooks if you are interested.

Geocene 5 needs contributions. Email Helen Holzer heleneh@xtra.co.nz (make sure it is acknowledged). Geocenes 1- 4 are here.
