2023 International Summer School, Kyrgyzstan

2023 International Summer School on Rockslides and Related Phenomena in the Kokomeren River Basin (Kyrgyzstan)

This fieldtrip, running since 2006, is a fantastic opportunity to visit world-class landscapes and geology of the Tien Shan Mountains, Kyrgyzstan.  The trip is run by Dr. Alexander Strom and Prof. Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov, who have decades of experience working in the region, and is supported by the International Consortium on Landslides (ICL) and International Program on Landslides (IPL).

The trip exposes participants to a fantastic range of spectacular rock slope failures, neotectonic features, geology, and landscapes exceptionally well exposed and preserved in the tectonically active, arid-climate setting.

Attended by students and professionals from across the world, it is also a great opportunity to make connections and life-long colleagues.

At a cost of only 700 Euro for a 14-day field camp, with food, accommodation (mostly camping), and transport provided, it is incredible value. It comes highly recommended by GSNZ members who have participated on previous trips.

Details for the 14-29 August 2023 offering can be found here
