GSNZ Waikato branch Pirongia Map and Book launch - Kawhia

Oliver McLeod, a University of Waikato PhD student, has produced a full-colour, large-format geological map, revealing for the first time details of the geology of the North Island’s largest basaltic volcano—Pirongia.

Oliver will give a 25 minute talk on the history of Pirongia Volcano and the production of the new geological map. There will be another 20 minutes or so allocated for questions.

Copies of the map book will be available on the night, for $30 - cash only. Sales will also be possible via the GSNZ website following its launch.

There will be time for socialising before and after the event.
