Displacement history of the Alpine Fault and origin of New Zealand’s Southern Alps
Speaker: Associate Professor Simon Lamb

New Zealand’s Alpine Fault is one of the larger and more rapidly slipping continental strike-slip faults on the planet, and, as such, constitutes a major seismic hazard. In this talk, Associate Professor Lamb presents some new ideas about both its geometry and displacement history, which suggest that we need to rethink its role in accommodating Cenozoic deformation in the New Zealand plate boundary zone.

If you are not able to attend in person the event will be live streamed and a recording will be made available after the event.
