Tourism New Zealand recognises conference champions

GSNZ members win international geoscience conference bids

A number of GSNZ members have been successful in winning bids to bring prestigious geoscience conferences to New Zealand, supported by our partnership with Tourism New Zealand.

These bid winners were recently celebrated by Tourism New Zealand at a dinner in Auckland.

They include:

  • Sebastian Naeher - for the Australasian Organic Geochemistry Conference to be held in Wellington in 2024.
  • Alejandro Frery, Matthew Wilson, and Gabor Kereszturi  - for the International Conference on "Machine Intelligence for GeoAnalytics and Remote Sensing" to be held in Wellington in 2024.
  • Sam McColl, Ian Fuller and Jamie Shulmeister - for the International Conference on Geomorphology for the International Association of Geomorphology, to be held in Christchurch in 2026.

Unfortunately, Gabor and Ian did not make it to the dinner as their flight was cancelled at short notice.

If you would like to bring an international geoscience conference to New Zealand please contact GSNZ executive committee member Michael Rowe who will put you in touch with Tourism New Zealand.
